Title: “Blending Expert and Machine Learning Using Quantitative Chest CT and Clinical Biomarkers to Predict Asthma Severity and Outcomes”

Synopsis: This presentation will summarize exploratory work in developing an ensemble machine learning classifier for predicting severe asthma progression using chest CT and clinical biomarkers. This presentation will report on work supported in part by one of the two 2019-2020 ML4MI pilot awards.

Speaker bio: Shengli (Bruce) Jiang is a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, working with Prof. Victor Zavala Tejeda. He received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He has worked on lithium-ion batteries as an undergraduate student in Dr. Chen’s lab. In Dr. Zavala’s lab, he shifted his research focus to computational research. His current research interests include machine learning and big data application in chemical engineering.
